Plot: Kyung-chul is a dangerous psychopath who kills for pleasure. He has committed infernal serial murders in diabolic ways that one cannot even imagine and his victims range from young women to even children. The police have chased him for a long time, but were unable to catch him. One day, Joo-yeon, daughter of a retired police chief becomes his prey and is found dead in a horrific state. Her fiance Soo-hyun, a top secret agent, decides to track down the murderer himself. He promises himself that he will do everything in his power to take bloody vengeance against the killer, even if it means that he must become a monster himself to get this monstrous and inhumane killer.
My opinion: What do you get if you let Quentin Tarantino make a torture porn movie like the “Saw” franchise and film it in South Korea? You get “I Saw The Devil” a clever revenge movie with tons and tons of violence and explicit content.
But the movie also works great becuase of the performances: the “good guy” always has the same face and expresions, but the “bad guy” is awesome, one of the best recent villans. The only problem i had with this movie was that sometimes it felt too long, but the suspense will have you gessing till the end.
And it also has one of the most cool shots I’ve seen this year, i’m talking of course of “the taxi scene”, witch reminded me of “the car scene” in “Children Of Men”, but much better.
